Slack AI recap vs Catch Up
Slack's AI recaps and summaries are now part of Slack's plans. Here is what each plan includes, and when a per-workspace summary bot like Catch Up is the better fit.

Short answer
If your workspace is already on Slack Business+ or Enterprise+, daily AI recaps are included. If you are on another plan, or don't want to pay for AI on every seat, Catch Up adds channel, thread and DM summaries to your workspace from $10 per month for the whole workspace.
What changed with Slack AI
In June 2025 Slack announced changes to its plans. The separate Slack AI add-on is no longer available to buy on the Slack website, and AI features are now part of the plans themselves:
- Pro: conversation and thread summaries, and huddle notes.
- Business+: everything in Pro, plus AI search, recaps, translations, file summaries and workflow automation.
- Enterprise+: everything in Business+, plus enterprise search.
Customers who already had the add-on kept it until their first renewal after August 17, 2025. For current per-user prices, see Slack's pricing page.

What are Slack AI recaps?
A recap is a customized summary of your unread channels. You get a new recap every morning with what you missed the day before. On desktop, click Recap in the sidebar and use Manage Recap to choose which channels are included. On mobile, open the Home tab and tap Recap.

When Slack AI recaps are the better choice
If your team is already paying for Business+ or Enterprise+, recaps are included at no extra cost and arrive automatically every morning. Catch Up doesn't send scheduled digests: you ask for a summary when you need one.
When Catch Up is the better choice
- You want AI summaries without moving every seat to a higher Slack plan. Catch Up is priced per workspace, so adding people doesn't change the price.
- You want to choose the period yourself, from the last day up to 60 days, with
@catchup 7and similar commands. - You want to steer the summary, for example
@catchup 3 focus on action items and deadlines(Pro and Advanced). - You want to post a summary for the whole channel or thread with
@catchup public.
